Holiday tips with the compliments of Sterling Creations

Dear readers,
It gives me great pleasure to extend to you personal Christmas holiday greetings on behalf of the business desk team at www.sterlingcreations.com and we'd like to offer you a few holiday tips to help keep you safe and sound.
We wish  you a very merry Christmas, Joyeux Noèl, and Feliz Navidad.

The Sterling Creations holiday tips

1. Be careful when you purchase those gift cards for friends and family.  Check the terms of purchase to ensure which products and services are being offered.  What is included and what is not.  Check too the expiry dates.
2. Be sure to pay attention to those scamming Santas.  Yes, they're out there and just lurking in the shadows.  Just waiting to pounce.  Some of them are just fakes looking to reap havoc with your kids or just be mean to them.
3. Some companies may want to offer you warrantees on your purchases as an enticement for you to buy.  Remember, if the product is good you do not really need a warrantee.
4. Say no to anyone phoning you with an offer that is too good to be true.  Keep your banking details safe; do not give them out to strangers calling you.  The same for your personal data; date of birth, mailing address, and license and social security card numbers.
5.  Keep your credit card safely tucked away from prying eyes.  Never let them out of your sight.
6. If you are planning to send overseas packages to friends and relatives and hope to have them delivered in time for Christmas, make sure that the post office can do it.  Check with the friendly folks at your post office to ensure that your delivery dates can be met.

I hope that these tips are of help to you.

Women in Business: Kathy Forrest from Dutiful Daughters ...
By Donna J. Jodhan

Before my blog for today, I'd like to take this opportunity to wish all of our readers the very best for the Christmas holidays.  Joyeux Noèl!  Feliz Navidad!  Best wishes for 2010 and see you on the other side of the holidays!

If you're a woman and wanting to go into business for yourself but you are not sure how or where to start:  Then do I have an article for you to check out.  More and more women are going into business for themselves and there are a lot of examples for you to follow.

There used to be a time when it was taboo for a woman to do this; but this did not stop me.  I was determined to make a change in my life and it is why I took the plunge.  It is why more and more women are doing just this and you know what?  It is catching on and women are becoming more and more risk takers.  They want to become more in control of their lives, become their own bosses, and make a mark for themselves.  I have a terrific article for you to check out.  Please see below.

Are You Safe Online?

        Are You Safe Online?
By Donna J. Jodhan

With all that is going on these days, this is indeed a very important question for us to ask ourselves.  Some may respond that we are but there more than just a few of us who would readily say that we are not.  So, here is the question again.  How safe are we online?

In my opinion, we are not very safe but there have beeen great strides made in the arena of online safety.  There will always be safety factors for us to be concerned about and there will always be hackers, cyber pirates, and scammers lurking out there just waiting to pounce.  The thing to remember is this; hackers, cyber pirates, and scammers are continually improving their strategies and methodologies and it is up to us to do our best to stay at least two steps ahead of them.  We can do this by being aware of what not to do; that is, what information we should protect with our lives and what software we need in order to protect our computer and personal securities.

I am going to give you a great reference to check out; one that has a load of tips for you to consider and implement.  I invite you to read on.

Firms Developing Innovative Retirement Income Programs, Deloitte Says

Firms Developing Innovative Retirement Income Programs, Deloitte Says
By Donna J. Jodhan

There is a growing trend towards firms developing innovative income programs for retirees and you know what?  It's something that is really needed; especially now that the recession has caused so much havoc among our retirees and pre-retirees.

Retirees and those who need to retire for various reasons can really do with this type of service and it can only spell good news for not just retirees,  but also for the economy as a whole.  Retirees stand to benefit; their kids too, and anyone who is associated with the life of a retiree.  Bravo to those firms that have taken up this initiative.  It can only get better.

I see this trend as one that is going to force sectors such as the banking industry to become more innovative and in turn other sectors will quickly follow.  I am going to leave you with a terrific reference to check out.  One that will give you a more in depth picture.  Please see below.

Brands Expect Investment in Mobile Marketing to More Than Double ...
By Donna J. Jodhan

How much do you really know about the exploding mobile market?  A market that has absolutely nowhere to go but up, up, and away!  A market that is being fuelled by more and more consumers using it to not just obtain information, but also to advertise themselves and companies to the rest of the world.

The mobile market is one that is still very new because of technology that exploded on to the scene about a decade ago.  I have watched with great interest as this market first started to creep, then walk, and now it is running.  So many big companies are using the mobile market to their advantage.  So much software is being developed on a daily basis for mobile users to become more proficient with their mobile devices.  Consumers are of all ages and who knows where this market is going to go next.

Technology will continue to drive the mobile market along with a desire to enhance communications plus more.  I have a brilliant article for you to read.  It paints an extraordinary picture for the reader.  Please see below.

One in ten British web users is victim of online ID fraud
By Donna J. Jodhan

It is not only happening in Britain; it is happening right here in America and with the approaching busiest season of the year, we need to pay more attention when we go to carry out online transactions.  Precautions are never too much at any given time but rest assured that at this time of the year hackers and scammers are literally lurking on the Internet waiting for someone to slip up.

Do not give out your banking details on the Internet.  Do not give out your social security number, or your credit card number.  The same goes for your license number and most of all your date of birth.  Never respond to any email that asks you to log in and verify your banking details.

I have a sobering article for you to check out.  When you read it, do not think that it only applies to folks in Britain.  It applies to all of us.  Please see below.

I am out of time for this week but before I leave you, here is my tiny tip of the week.
With the upcoming holiday season fast approaching, be doubly aware of phone scams.  These scammers may try to
entice you to accept offers of such things as free cell phones, satellite dishes, and so on.  Do not entertain their
offers.  They are scammers who are only seeking to reap havoc with your credit card and your banking details.  The
minute they ask you for your account number or credit card number, you know that they are frauds.

I'm Donna J. Jodhan wishing you a terrific day and rest of the week.

Deciding When to Delay Retirement

Deciding When to Delay Retirement
By Donna J. Jodhan

This recession has really caused many ripples and even mini tsunamis among the retirement plans for aging boomers.  Before the recession hit, many of this group were planning to retire; some earlier than the stipulated age requirement but all of hits has changed and as things stand now, there are so many questions to be dealt with.

Should one retire now and seek a more enjoyable and less stressful job?
Should one continue to work in order to replenish one's investments?
Should one seek a second job to help pay for the kids's college education?
Should one also do this in order to help defer living costs for aging parents?

These are all very legitimate questions and before taking any of the above mentioned paths, it would be in one's best interest to seek advice and do a ton of research.  I am going to leave you with a great reference to check out.  This reference will give you a great start in the right direction.  I now invite you to read on.

Using Caution with Email Attachments « Stefan Beyer

Using Caution with Email Attachments « Stefan Beyer
By Donna J. Jodhan

You can never be too cautious when it comes to ensuring that you take precautions with your email attachments.  If you do then you will be not just protecting yourself, but your friends and families as well.  If you don't then you run the likely risk of spreading viruses, having cyber pirates invade your computer system and cause havoc, but most of all you run the risk of personal intrusion from the unknown hacker and identity thief.

If you are not expecting any attachments, then do not even open the email.  If the email is from an unknown sender, then simply delete the email.  If it is from someone you know, then make sure you know what they are sending you or better yet, make sure that you install an anti virus program that will ensure that your attachments are virus free.

Lots for you to do and I am going to leave you with a terrific reference to read.  Please see below.
