Diabetes growing out of control

Hey there!  I'm Alix Shadonnay at the business desk and this morning I'd like to focus on some very frightening trends that are taking place both here in America as well as around the world.
My concerns this morning are focused on a rapidly growing group of diabetic consumers and according to several health experts, the growth of diabetics is much more that has been predicted.  Diabetes has always been a very potent enemy to mankind.  Causing ramifications such as:  Blindness, loss of limbs, depression, and other disabling diseases and side effects.  Did you know that diabetes is the leading cause of blindness today on a global scale?  Did you also know that diabetes is hereditary?  That diabetes is caused by such things as obesity?  That juvenile diabetes is rampant among our kids?  That diabetes comes in two forms:  Type one and type two?  That the number of persons suffering from type two diabetes is growing at an unstoppable rate?
China and India are the two countries with the most diabetics these days and the number of persons expected to be hit with this disease are going to be from these two countries according to what the health experts are saying.
What we have here is a picture of share horror and a call for help from many global governments including our own American government.  Yes, Uncle Sam is pleading for help from businesses of all sizes.  Because of the increasing demand for products and services from all stakeholders, the American government is now looking to others to help.  Demand for products and services is way ahead of supply and this gap is expected to continue to grow at an alarming rate if something isn't done quickly.  If we continue to ignore the increasing presence of diabetes we may soon find ourselves in a very unpleasant and frightening crunch whereby only the fittest will survive.  There are always solutions to any problem and I'd like to list just a few.
First, there are definite things that we can do to reduce the growth of diabetes.  We can take control of our health by paying closer attention to what we eat and exercise more.  We need to stay more fit and healthy by eating healthier and exercising more frequently.  We can take measures to control our body weight and stay away from eating junk foods and things that are not healthy.  Pay closer attention to what we put into our bodies.
Second, we could demand that restaurants, fast-food chains, and supermarkets and other food stores and chains offer foods that are more healthy for us.
Third, we could get involved in developing services and products that would help diabetics to keep their disease under control.  This last solution is not as daunting as you may think.  What's needed here are more online stores that sell products for diabetics.
Fourth, we should be making ourselves more familiar with info on such topics as healthy eating, causes of diabetes, causes from diabetes, and other related topics.  We need to learn how to prevent and treat diabetes.
Finally, we owe it both to ourselves and to our kids to take action now.  Taking action now will go a long way to preventing a global catastrophe.  Taking action later may just be the cause of an unpreventable diabetic tsunami that could potentially cause worldwide problems of mammoth proportions.
I'm going to leave you with some useful info.

Don't let your emails manage you!

Good morning!  I'm Kerry J Harrison at the business desk and I'd like to start the week by zooming in on a very mainstream problem that's plaguing both the workplace and the home.  This problem is being referred to as the email problem.
There seems to be a growing trend of the email managing the person rather than the person managing the email and the experts are commenting that many managers as well as family members are starting to tire of this problem.
True it is that emailing has become the way of life for millions these days.  Many people prefer to or find iit easier to send off a note rather than picking up the phone to make a call.  They find it easier to write rather than speak.  They feel that it is easier to express one's self through an email rather than by phone.  Then there's the argument and a good one at that, that emailing is much quicker, more convenient, and more efficient.  Many persons would even tell you with a straight face that emailing saves lots of time.  You don't have to take the time to dial and leave a message if your party is not around.  You don't have to spend time chit chatting before coming to the real reason for your call.  You don't have to spend time trying to be polite during an unpleasant call.  Emailing takes care of all of this.  Above all, you have more latitude to express yourself in an email as opposed to a phone call.
All of these arguments have validity to them but in so many cases these days employees, even managers, and even in the home, we seem to be getting carried away with this email thing and what's happening now is that emailing is swiftly taking over our lives and instead of us managing it, it is now managing us.  Email is not going to away and as a matter of fact it is only going to become a greater part of our lives as time marches on.  So, we have to come up with ways to start managing our emailing habits and I have some suggestions for you.
First, you need to admit to yourself that email is getting or has gotten the better of you.
Second, deal with the important emails in no less than two minutes.
Third, keep your in box empty.
Fourth, only check your emails at specific times of the day.
You may be saying to yourself that this is crazy but I've been trying this out for the past month and it is working!  Till recently I had been a victim of email managing my time and those around me had started to complain that I was spending too much time dealing with emails rather than managing more important things.  They told me that I was spending up to about two hours daily dealing with emails and that I was neglecting important issues around the office.  So I decided to take action.
Trust me!  The four steps that I outlined above is helping greatly and I can tell you that today our office is running much more smoothly.
I'll leave you with some useful info and I wish you a very pleasant day.

More women striking out on their own

Hello there!  I'm Matt Chadwick at the business desk and on this wintry evening I'd like to discuss a favorite topic of mine and I'm sure one that is near and dear to the hearts of millions of American women.
Let's be honest!  There's still a definite glass ceiling when it comes to women being able to attain those lofty positions in the boardrooms.  Not only that, but the glass ceiling also exists for any woman who dreams of becoming a middle or senior manager.  Many experts are saying that these reasons plus more are why there is a very interesting trend developing these days right here in the United States.
The number of women going into their own business enterprises has practically tripled in the last five years and recent stats have shown that women make up a greater percentage of the small business and entrepreneurial economy.  Many women will tell you that they are simply not prepared to play second fiddle anymore.
Many women want to be the boss.  Many of them want to take their rightful places in the boardroom of their companies.  Others are looking for changes in careers and life style and accordingly they are reaching out for small business opportunities.
In addition, due to circumstances whereby many women and more and more of them are now single parents, there is a need for them to find ways to boost their incomes.  The mainstream fulltime or part-time employment methods are no longer enough for those women who are single parents.  Women are no longer prepared to sit at home after they've taken care of the kids and sent them off to school, said goodbye to their husbands, and after they've taken care of the household chores for the day.
More and more women are finding it difficult to be satisfied with just taking care of their kids and husbands.  Many of them have time to spare and they are chomping at the bit to do other things, explore new avenues, and put their creative juices to work.
I for one would like to see more women at the helm of large corporations.  I'd like to see more women managers and more women entrepreneurs.  Absolutely nothing wrong with this.  If you women are looking for some encouragement then please read Untapped Wealth Discovered.  A book written by two authors one of whom is a woman.
Kerry J Harrison is a very unique woman with lots to offer, lots to tell, and a fantastic role model for America's women.  She has worked very hard to established herself in the business arena and has broken countless glass ceilings along the way.  She walks the walk and she's my vote for Woman of the year.
If you're looking to learn more about Ms Harrison, and if you want to learn how to find those opportunities that can help you to break the glass ceiling, become your own boss, plus more, then please take a minute to read the info below.

The problem with some companies

Greetings everyone!  I'm Jayna Sheffield at the business desk and on this very stormy Friday morning I'd like to talk about some companies who just don't seem to get it when it comes to realizing the importance of good customer service.
How many times would it take to sink in?  How many times have the experts told us that good customer service is an integral part of our business?  That good customer service can bring you many benefits such as an expansion of your customer base and increased revenue?  That bad customer service can certainly go a long way to damage one's image and turn away customers in droves?
Whether we like it or not, most of us are guilty of remembering that one bad experience much more than the other 99 good experiences.  It appears that many companies seem to forget this at times and as a result they seem to be in a big quandary whenever they are faced with unhappy customers complaining about bad customer service.  Believe it or not, whenever companies decide to cut costs for whatever reasons, one of the first areas that they chop is the customer service department.  Not sure why, but this is a very standard happening these days and has been so for many years now.
Ever since we started to highlight those companies with bad customer service, we have been bombarded with emails from our readers with complaints about certain companies.  I don't think that it would do much harm for us to highlight some of these companies and maybe you could give us your experience so that we can share them.  For the past few weeks we've been receiving a steady influx of emails from readers complaining about companies such as:
Doubleday, Nerds onsite, Telehop, IBM, MasterCard, plus more.  These companies reside in various segments of our economy so we can't say that one particular segment of the economy is made up of companies who are guilty of bad customer service.
In the case of Doubleday, many readers are constantly telling us about this company's high handedness re how they deal with customers when it comes to their book club.  Apparently, they employ bullying tactics to get their customers to take their books and they use some very dubious tactics to get their customers to become members of their book club.
In the case of Nerds Onsite, this company sends out very poorly trained technicians to service their customers and they downright refuse to take responsibility whenever their technicians make serious errors.  As a matter of fact, they are bold enough to tell their customers that they do not accept third party conclusions which means that they refuse to fix anything if anything goes wrong.  We have had several emails about this company and I strongly suggest that before you hire any of their technicians you check out their skills and qualifications and make very sure that they can help you.
In the case of Telehop, this long distance phone company is nothing but a company offering very cheap services at very cheap rates.  You pay for what you get:  Cheap rates for services that are less than adequate.  Many of our readers continue to complain about Telehop's way of dealing with their customers.  They offer a service called "Call the world for less than a dollar" but what they don't tell you is that their quality of service is very sub standard.  The quality of telephone communication is very poor, many of their customer reps can barely speak English, and they almost never respond to complaints.
In the case of IBM and MasterCard, these two companies have chosen to set up call centers in India and have staffed them with reps who do not seem to have the necessary product and service knowledge when it comes to helping customers.  These reps are often floundering in the English language, their knowledge of what they're supposed to be selling is barely passable, and they don't seem able to understand how to interact with a North American culture.
I could go on and on but I'll stop here and let you be the judge.  In the meantime, I'd like to leave you with some very useful information and I wish you a very happy weekend.
How would you like to keep abreast of breaking headlines, latest trends, and up to the minute news and do it all for free?  How would you like to save yourself some precious time and energy by going to a website that offers you daily updates by some very hardworking experts and all of this at no cost to you?  Would you like to learn how to keep your assets safe and protected from the fast fingers of those unscrupulous scammers, identity thieves, and cyber pirates?
The experts at can show you how to obtain all of this plus much more and they are offering all of this for free because they are bound and determined to help you stay away from those get rich quick schemes, those scams with broken promises and smoking mirrors, and those pitfalls that could land you in endless trouble.  Their fingers are strategically placed on what's going on minute by minute around the world and they bring it to you as it happens.  Take advantage of their knowledge and experience and do it at no cost.
From the business desk at, I'm Jayna Sheffield wishing you a pleasant weekend.
