Wanted! Financial planners for baby boomers

Good day everyone!  I'm Jeff Marquis at the business desk and today I'd like to join in putting out a call for those financial planners who are sincerely interested in providing services for baby boomers.
There is a definite need for financial planners who really understand the demands of a rapidly growing group of persons known as baby boomers.  Anyone born between the years of 1946 to 1964 is being referred to as a baby boomer and as things stand today persons within this group are now starting to retire.  It is expected that by 2008 the number of persons retiring from the labor force is really going to pick up and the experts are warning that the demand for financial planners is really going to sky rocket.
Some may be saying so what!  Anyone who is a financial planner will definitely be able to handle the needs and demands of baby boomers but that's not quite true.  Baby boomers are demanding different types of services and their needs are quite different.
Because of their needs, financial planners need to understand what they're looking for, why they're looking for it, and how to help them find it.  Whereas younger persons have more time to look around for secure tax havens and savings plans, baby boomers don't have the same luxury.  They are desperately seeking ways to stretch their savings, find ways to keep on generating some type of income despite the fact that they are retired, and find ways to keep their savings secure.
According to the experts, when dealing with the demands and needs of most baby boomers, financial planners would do well to keep some of the following in mind:
Baby boomers need to find ways to keep on generating income when they retire.  The generation of this income may either be accomplished through various types of financial instruments or through new types of either part-time or full time employment.
Baby boomers need to feel that their savings are fully protected from economic recessions.  In short, down swings in the economy.  They need to know that their savings will not suddenly evaporate on them if for whatever reason the economy or the markets take an unexpected hit.
Many baby boomers would like to be able to travel and do things that they have not been able to do while they were fully employed and at the same time they would like to know that they would have enough savings to be able to do so.
One of the major things for any financial planner to understand when dealing with a baby boomer is that upon retirement many of them are dependent on fixed incomes and fixed pensions and because of this they are very cautious when it comes to spending on themselves and on others.
Yes, there is a definite need for financial planners who are willing and ready to fulfill the needs and demands of baby boomers but in order to do so, financial planners really need to take a step backwards and analyze the differences between the needs and demands of baby boomers, and those of younger persons.

Wal Mart's newest initiative

Hi everyone!  I'm Heather DeMarco at the business desk and I'd like to start the week by zooming in on the latest Wal Mart initiative.
This newest Wal Mart venture involves the company offering very attractive prices for downloads on movies and videos.  It's a brash and bold initiative on the part of Wal Mart but what else is new.  We have to commend Wal Mart for their latest initiative but the experts are a bit uncertain and sceptical about this one.
According to the gurus, it would probably take another 10 years before the majority of homes in the United States become completely wireless and in order for any household to take advantage of this initiative their home would have to be wireless.  Believe it or not, there are many large pockets of areas in the United States that are still either without Internet services or use dial-up services in order to access the Internet.  Added to this is the sobering fact that practically millions of home users are still using older and slower technology because they are unable to afford the newer and faster technology.
Yes, this is a brilliant initiative on the part of Wal Mart and I am sure that several Americans would be dying to take advantage of it, but on the other side of the coin we still have so many Americans who for many reasons are unable to cash in.  Let's just take a brief look at those who stand to be left out here.
Those who are using older and slower technology are unable to download videos and movies because their technology is just not able to download quickly.  In this case downloading becomes a frustration rather than a joy.
Those with older connections such as dial-up have a similar problem.  The inability to download quickly in in this case they often lose connection when trying to download.
Those who still do not have Internet services in their area and have to travel some distance in order to access the Internet.  In this case they have to use Internet cafes in order to surf the Internet.
Those who are financially unable to afford faster and newer technology.  Believe it or not, there are practically millions right here in America who are struggling to make ends meet let alone being able to afford newer and faster technology.
Of course some day, and some day sooner rather than later, all of this would change and when that time comes then the Wal Mart initiative would be able to benefit many more.

Many ignoring a potentially explosive market

Hi there!  I'm Heather DeMarco at the business desk and I'd like to end this week on a note of warning to all those who are seeking opportunities in markets that are explosive, growing, safe, and above all markets that are going to be around for a very long time to come.  For as long as we are unable to find solutions and remedies for leading causes of blindness and loss of vision, this particular market is going to be around for a very long time.
The number of blind and visually impaired persons around the world is growing at an alarming pace and right here in America it is ballooning.  Loss of vision and blindness is being fuelled by such factors as:
A rapidly growing group of hundreds of millions of diabetics around the world.
Loss of vision due to a rapidly aging population worldwide.
Loss of vision due to genetics.
Loss of vision due to other types of disabling diseases.
These are all very sobering factors yet for all of this literally hundreds of thousands of Internet websites are still not able to accommodate the needs and demands of this rapidly growing group.  Many would ask why and as the experts see it, it may simply be due to the fact that many are either just choosing to ignore this market, or they are just simply unaware of the existence of this particular market.
I think that it is time for you to discover this market.  It's time for you to wake up and start paying more attention to a market where demand vastly outstrips supply, where consumer demand is very real, consumer income is on the rise, and above all our government is looking for businesses of all sizes to step up to the plate.  I'm going to publish an article to help enlarge the picture for you.  Hopefully you'll find it interesting enough to set you thinking.
Have a great weekend and please pay attention to the following article.

As Web evolves, blind left behind

By Tim Spangler
Chicago Defender, IL, February 09, 2007

The last time Ray Campbell tried to buy Cubs tickets online, Tickets.com
asked him to enter the text in a distorted image in order to prove that he
was not a robot programmed to automatically buy tickets  for scalpers. .

The only problem: Campbell couldn't read the text in the image. In fact, he
couldn't see it at all - he's been blind his entire life.

"All I want to do is buy tickets and I can't do that, because there's this
verification and they have not provided an audio link to it," Campbell said.

For America's nearly 2 million blind or visually impaired Internet users,
problems like these can prevent them from taking advantage of all the Web
has to offer.

"The two challenges with Web accessibility are not just being able to access
the site, but being able to use the site," said Leah Gerlach, director of
counseling at the Diecke Center for Vision Rehabilitation in Wheaton.

Gerlach said the growing use of multimedia video on Web sites creates a
significant accessibility challenge, saying that Internet video can confuse
the screen reading software that blind and visually impaired people use to
browse the Internet.

Blind Browsing

Blind and visually impaired people use special software called screen
readers that "speak" to them in a synthetic voice what is happening on the
screen.

When browsing a Web site, a screen reader examines a page's code and
determines how the page is laid out and what links are on it, then reads the
content of the page to a user.

Screen readers rely on explanatory text, defined by webmasters, to interpret
images. Because of this, the World Wide Web Consortium, which sets Internet
standards, requires developers to define alternative text for every image on
a page.

Multimedia content, like Adobe Flash, is unintelligible to screen readers
and is skipped entirely when the page is read. Sites that rely heavily on
Flash should be sure to offer accessible, text-only versions of their pages.

Screen reading software uses text-to-speech conversion, machines that
translate on-screen text to Braille or a combination of both to present a
Web page to a blind or visually impaired user.

The challenges

Campbell is a technician at the assistive technology help desk at the the
Chicago Lighthouse, an organization for the blind and visually impaired. A
former software engineer at Lucent Technologies, he now takes calls from
blind and visually impaired people across the U.S. and Canada and helps them
solve computer problems and navigate Web sites.

Campbell identified what he said are the Web's three major accessibility
problems: graphics without descriptive text, required plug-in installations
and visual registration tests, called captchas, an acronym for "Completely
Automated Public Turing Test to Tell Computers and Humans Apart."  Captchas
are particularly troublesome when it comes to  accessibility.

Why captchas?

Many major sites require users to verify that they are actually human - not
automated robots. By presenting the browser with a captcha - an image of
distorted text that is difficult for a computer to decode - and asking the
user to enter the text they see in the image, robots can be blocked from the
site while human users who can see the text are given access. Campbell said
that captchas can be made accessible by using audio clips in addition to
images to verify users as human. Some sites, like LiveJournal.com, already
do this.

What works, what doesn't

Blogging, a growing Internet phenomenon, is still largely text-based and
tends to be more screen reader friendly than other applications.

"My experience has taught me that [blogging] is pretty accessible," said
Campbell, who keeps his own blog on LiveJournal.

"Screen readers can handle a lot of the current techniques that are being
used in Web design," Campbell said, as long as designers take extra care to
make their sites accessible. These include avoiding the use of images to
display text, providing audio narration for videos and offering text-only
versions of pages with multimedia content.

As interactive, multimedia Web sites become more prevalent, blind and
visually impaired users might find themselves behind the curve as designers
forgo accessible pages for glitzy ones and screen reading software lags
behind, said Leah Gerlach at the Diecke Center

"We don't drive change. We have to follow it and keep up with it," Gerlach
said. "We're always six months behind cutting edge because we have to be."

Big bucks for computer security experts

Good day everyone!  I'm Jeff N Marquis at the business desk and as the week winds down and most of us look forward to a nice pleasant weekend with the family, I'd like to bring your attention to a call that has-been put out by several quarters for computer experts.
Yes!  The call has gone out for dedicated and professional computer security experts and among those making the call is none other than Uncle Sam himself.  Our government has recognized that there are certain types of consumers that need to be protected from the growing number of ruthless hackers and identity thieves and you won't get an argument from me.  In addition, several business experts, business associations, large corporations, and practically millions of home users are also crying out for the services of more computer security experts.
Before you start to get too excited about this growing trend, there is a word of caution here.  What most stakeholders are looking for are very specialized and qualified computer security experts.  Those who are able to stay one step ahead of hackers, identity thieves, and cyber pirates.  Those who have the ability to stand up to the pressure and not flinch at the first sign of trouble.  Those who have the ability to find creative and innovative ways to deal with scammers and their scams.  Those who are knowledgeable, dedicated, committed, and highly skilled with the most common and popular types of software such as:
Anti virus software, spyware, virus protection software, firewalls, spam software, plus other types of related software.
What stakeholders need to do is to be watchful for those who try to pass themselves off as security experts but in reality they are very inexperienced, irresponsible, and not skilled enough.  I know that everyone has to start somewhere but when it comes to computer security we all have to make darn sure that the right person with the right skills is looking out for us and our computers.
There is a growing tendency these days for smaller companies to send out ill trained technicians to service home users and on that score we have been receiving quite a few emails within the last six months with the general complaint that smaller companies are not providing adequate service when it comes to computer security.  One company that comes to mind is one called Nerds Onsite.  This company has set up itself internationally with headquarters in London Ontario Canada.  They do not have a physical office but they employ technicians who work out of their own homes and they use their homes as home based offices.  They are on constant call and spend 99.99% of their time at the homes of their customers.  They have managed to spread themselves across North America, and to Britain and even into Europe but we continue to receive emails with complaints of poor service from technicians working for Nerds Onsite.  In addition, many of these emailers are telling us that Nerds Onsite is getting away with providing shoddy service, sub-standard work, and they are somehow managing to duck out of their responsibility to compensate their customers when they screw up.
Consumers should also be cautious when hiring those fast talking technicians who claim to be able to do any and everything.  Before you hire any computer technician check them out thoroughly but back to the growing demand for top notch technicians.
If you think that you can foot the bill when it comes to providing top notch service as a computer security professional, then there's a growing market of demand out there with practically millions of consumers who are beating the drums for your services.  As an entrepreneur you can certainly look forward to very healthy five figure revenues and as a small business there's no reason why you can't even crack the seven figure barrier.

You have a great weekend and I'll leave you with some info to keep you going.

Are you tired of looking over your shoulder because you're so scared of being scammed out of your hard earned savings, your house, and your other assets?
Are you looking for ways to avoid those scams with their broken promises and get rich quick schemes?  Are you worried that one day soon someone is going to try and scam you out of your worldly possessions?  Do you know what you should be doing in order to combat those seedy scammers, identity thieves, and shady investors?
Now you can take advantage of some very potent info and daily updates plus more in order to help you stay healthy and sleep well at night.  All of this info is free for the taking and it will save you thousands of research hours, protect your savings and worldly possessions, and help you to make decisions that are safe, logical, and sound.  The experts at www.untappedwealth.com are offering you all of this at absolutely no cost because their philosophy is that if they help you then you will help others and we will become a safer and better country.  Check them out!  You have absolutely nothing to lose and everything to gain!

New rules for cruise ships

Greetings everyone!  I'm Jayna Sheffield at the business desk and as the week draws to an end I wanted to share an article with you that may be of great interest to those millions of consumers who are either senior and/or disabled.
It seems that finally someone is listening because the Department of Transportation is poised to pass new rules that will make easier for seniors and disabled passengers to travel more comfortably on cruise ships.  I am absolutely delighted with this news and I hope that many of you would take the time to submit your comments to the url given in this article.
You have a pleasant evening.

Dept. of Transportation Proposes New ADA Rules for Cruise Ships

Dear Readers,

On account of the Supreme Court case of Spector v. Norweigan Cruise Line in
2005, in which the Supreme Court ruled that the ADA applies to foreign
cruise vessels that enter U.S. waters despite their registration in other
countries, the Department of Transportation issued a formal proposal last
week addressing policies and conditions relating to transportation of
passengers with disabilities. The aim of the proposal is to completely
eliminate any discrimination in the treatment of people with disabilities.
It addresses how cruise lines have treated individuals with disabilities and
how that treatment must change once ADA rules are implemented. The proposal
does not address architectural barriers or the operations of the vessels
(which will be handled by the U.S. Access Board separately).

If the proposal is adopted:

- All assistive technology such as wheelchairs and scooters as
well as service animals would be allowed without question.

- People with disabilities traveling on cruise lines will not have
to identify themselves and register as special care guest
  prior to traveling.

- The reservation process and all accompanying information will
become fully accessible to all blind and deaf travelers.

- Fees associated with accommodations and assistance can not cost
more than what an non-disabled individual would be charged.

- Cruise lines will not be allowed to require that a passenger
with a disability travel with a companion or assistant if that
individual did not feel it necessary; If a cruise line still
feels one is necessary, it would have to provide one or allow
free passage for an attendant chosen by the traveling individual
  with the disability.

- Travelers with disabilities would not have to sign a waiver of
liability as a condition of traveling on cruise lines.

The Department of Transportation's proposal is currently under review and
open to comments from the public, cruise lines, and other stakeholders until
April 23, 2007. To read the entire filing and learn more about how to
contribute comments, visit:
http://dmses.dot.gov/docimages/pdf100/443543_web.pdf.

Problems with long distance companies

Hello there!  I'm Matt Chadwick at the business desk and as part of our commitment to keeping you abreast of various types of consumer complaints, and problems between consumers and companies, I'd like to tell you about a growing problem that's taking place right in our backyard.
For the last month we have been receiving several emails from Canadian consumers complaining about a long distance company called Telehop.  According to the general comments, this company continues to place commercials on both radio and TV advertising very low rates to such places as:  India, the Philippines, the Caribbean, England, various parts of Europe, and of course to America and Canada.  We sent our investigators to look into this and here's what they came back with.
Telehop has several radio and TV commercials advertising their low rates to these places and they use a general theme of "Call the world for less than a dollar."  The commercials are very attention grabbing and many people have signed up for Telehop's services.  However, several of them have been complaining that the services are very poor.
It appears that Telehop is using very low grade lines of communication and when someone makes a long distance call to places outside of Canada, the communication is extremely poor.  Persons are unable to hear their parties and in return those being called are unable to hear their callers.  Several emailers have told us that when they complain, no one responds and even when they leave phone messages for the customer service supervisor he never responds.
In addition to this, we have persons telling us that some of the customer reps at Telehop don't seem able to communicate efficiently in English, and this is very disconcerting because when a person calls they are offered the option of choosing service in either English or French and if they choose the option of service in English then they should be able to receive appropriate service in English and not from someone who is unable to communicate proficiently in English.
Our investigators went a step further and tried finding some sort of consumer affairs or consumer advocate group to take these complaints to and to their surprise they were unable to find any.  They centered their investigation in Toronto Ontario and one government of Ontario consumer hotline blatantly said that they were unable to help.
I don't think that these types of problems are uncommon.  As a matter of fact, these complaints are quite commonplace right here in the United States.  It appears that Telehop is providing sub standard service at very low rates and that their customer service for the most part is lacking in courtesy and responsiveness.  It is up to the consumer to help themselves and they can do this by simply switching to another long distance provider.  This may not be acceptable to many but based on our investigation I don't see what else can be done.  However, if consumers feel that they have been mistreated then the by word of mouth method can surely help.  If you're one of those unhappy Telehop customers then tell your friends and family about it.  Tell others and sooner than later Telehop is bound to get the message.

I wish you a pleasant day and I'll leave you with some useful info.

Cuba after Castro?

Good morning!  I'm Kerry J Harrison at the business desk and on this cold morning I'd like to let my wander a bit to what might happen after Fidel Castro is gone.
It is no secret that America is really interested in getting their hands on Cuba after Castro passes on.  For many years they have tried unsuccessfully to take Cuba away from Castro but for many reasons their efforts have failed miserably.  It all started with the Bay of Pigs effort way back when and over the years America has continued to enlist the help of disenchanted Cubans to help them in their efforts but Castro has managed to thwart these efforts.
What really could emerge when a very sick and dying Castro finally goes?  This is the million dollar question being asked by several experts.  One school of thought is that nothing will really change.  Fidel's brother will continue to rule in the footsteps of his brother.  Cubans living in Cuba will continue to live according to the rules that have been around for well over 40 years.  Cubans living in America will continue to find ways to send gifts of money and clothes to their relatives in Cuba.  Persons traveling from Canada to Cuba will continue to take gifts to Cuba on behalf of Cubans living in America.
Then, we could allow ourselves to dream a bit and draw a picture like this:
Cuba will be liberated according to the dictates and whims of the United States.  America will find ways to create business opportunities for Americans wishing to do business with Cuba.  The Cuban economy will adopt a new face whereby the Cuban economy will be westernized and accordingly Cuba will be dragged into the present and out of a stage of living in an era of 50 years ago.  Tons of opportunities would be opened up for trade between Cuba and the Western world especially so with the United States.  Cubans would be able to enjoy a better standard of living.
Whatever the outcome, it would be very interesting to see how things shape up for this little island.  As I see it any of the following situations is possible.
1  Cuba will continue to exist in the same way as when Castro was ruling.
2  America will find a way to take control of Cuba.
3  Cuba will team up with Venezuela and others in Latin America to continue being a headache for succeeding American presidents.
Wait and watch.

I'll leave you with some vital info that you may very well find useful if Cuba ever becomes a bed of opportunity for Americans.

More traffic to your websites? A scam!

Hey there!  I'm Alix Shadonnay at the business desk and as part of our commitment to helping you to avoid those scams on the Internet I'd like to start the week by publishing a note that's making the rounds on the Internet.  This note is a definite scam and comes with a file attachment.
I really want you to think about this!  With all of the checks and balances in place on the part of search engines like Google, Yahoo, and MSN, how could it be possible for anyone to promise you that they can bring you millions more visitors to your website.  No!  Not possible with today's environment.  Increased traffic to your website can only be accomplished through your own hard work, smart marketing, and not through scams like these whereby if you don't watch your back you end up paying through your nose for empty promises.

Pay close attention to this note and when/if you see it in your in box, please, please delete it and move on.
You have a great day.  The note in question follows.

"How would you like to have your ad
on 2 Million Websites ?"

I'm not pulling your leg!
Discover the new way of advertising on the Internet!
This Tool is one of the hottest - if not the hottest - marketing tools available!

Discover the power of the Blog Blaster!
Brandnew software revolutionizes the power of online advertising
-never seen before!- BRAND NEW FOR OCTOBER 2005!

How would you like 2 Million Sites linking to your ad ?

Hi, my name is Sebastian Foss. Are you like me? Frustrated by the lack of traffic coming to your Site ?
After all, how many times a day are you BOMBARDED with some lame "get-traffic" scheme on the Internet?

Well, I've got great news for you.
One day I had an idea. An amazing idea actually.

Weblog or blog population is exploding around the world, resembling the growth of e-mail users in the 1990s.

Post your ads where people read them!

Youngsters gambling with their future

Hi everyone!  I'm Heather DeMarco at the business desk and as the week winds down I'd like to make a plea to both parents and kids alike.
There is a growing trend that's taking place in America and it's a trend that many are worried about.  More and more teens and young people are turning to online gambling as a means of paying off their debts and I along with many others are here to tell you to please, please stop it before it's too late.  Recent reports have revealed that more and more teens and pre-teens are using their pocket money and their parents credit cards to engage in such online games as Poker, Blackjack, Roulette, and betting on sporting games in order to generate more spending money.  More and more persons in their 20s especially college and university students are doing the same in order to pay off their educational debts and many of them are even turning to the heavy purchasing of lottery tickets to do the same.
It's hard for parents to keep a constant eye on their kids in their 20s or those who have left home and living on their own because many of these have their own credit cards and are literally unstoppable but parents could do something when it comes to their pre-teens and teens.
They could keep a closer eye on what their kids do when they get on the Internet.  They could resist the temptation to let their kids have access to their credit dcards.  They can more closely monitor what their kids do with their pocket money.  They can also keep a closer eye on their kids spending habits and activities.
Most kids living at home have admitted that they either use their pocket money or their parents credit cards to engage in online gambling.  Many psychologists emphatically state that the younger they start the more difficult it is to stop the habit.
It's worth it to all parents because afterall we don't want to see them gambling with their futures!  If they get into trouble with online gambling then we as parents also get into trouble because we are obliged to help them get out of it.  Maybe it's time for us as parents to start calling on the appropriate authorities to start clamping down on the availability of gambling to our teens and teens.  In addition, parents need to do their part.  I'm not sure however what we can do to help our older kids except to appeal to them to stop and think before doing it.
Have a pleasant weekend wherever you are and I'll leave you with some free and useful info.

Wamted! Plant care professionals

Hey there!  I'm Alix Shadonnay at the business desk and this morning I'm issuing a call for plant care professionals.  Yes!  There is such a professional and many of them certainly do exist!
We have several clients who are very successful in this profession and there seems to be a very exciting and interesting trend on the move right here in our backyard.  This trend is being fuelled by a rising demand from literally hundreds of thousands of companies of all sizes.  In their efforts to man handle the rising levels of stress in the workplace, hundreds of thousands of companies are using plants in the workplace in order to make it more appealing, attractive, and peaceful for their employees.  Employers are very aware of those many surveys that constantly and continually point to employees complaining about offices and workplaces that are unpleasant to work in.
Over the years employees continue to complain about workplaces that are too cramped, too crammed with too many cubicles that are way too small, workplaces that are windowless, surrounded by nothing but filing cabinets, tables and desks overflowing with books and manuals, old and unused hardware, plus more.
Sad to say, all of this has been a result of companies going on a rampage to reduce overhead costs but in doing so they have unwittingly thrown their employees in to the path of rising levels of stress.  So, they are now on a mission to reverse this trend and as a result of this they are now using plants and other greenery to help alleviate the problem.  Enter plants, and enter the need for plant care professionals.
Companies are embarking on an all out war to conquer stress in the workplace and employees are giving it their full backing.  In addition, thousands of health professionals are giving it the thumbs up and on the whole this new trend is getting the backing of good old uncle Sam.  So what does this mean for you budding and interested plant care professionals?  It's wonderful news for you for I can assure you that this trend is expected to grow by leaps and bounds for the very foreseeable future and has the potential to be around for a very long time.
You could potentially build a very satisfying career and life style around this trend.  We have several clients who make anything from $33,000 to $60,000 depending on the effort you wish to put in.  These figures apply to persons working on their own but as a small business you can certainly make a heck of a lot more.  This business venture has a lot of scope for the imagination because not only can you offer plant care services but you could also offer things like flower delivery and even reach for the gift basket service as well.
Think about it and I'll leave you with some free useful info.
Have a great weekend.
