How important is it to choose the right market?

Hi there, I'm Jayna Sheffield at the Untapped Wealth business desk and I have a few tips to pass on re how to go about choosing the right type of market.
If you are a small business or an entrepreneurial venture then it is so important that you choose the right type of market in which to compete.  Your advantage will be to compete in a market where you have the best chance of out muscling your larger and more powerful competition.  With this in mind it is paramount for you to choose a market that consists of the following dimensions:
Demand is substantially ahead of supply, consumer growth is positive and is expected to grow at more than 25% for at least the next five years, the life of the market is expected to last for at least the next five years, products and services being demanded are in real demand, consumer income is in the positive, and most important of all global governments especially the United States are also demanding the products and services of this market.
Do these types of markets really exist?  Most definitely.  Would small businesses and entrepreneurs be able to participate fully and successfully in these markets?  Without a doubt.

Cleaning business losing customers

Good day everyone!  I'm Jeff N Marquis co-author of "Untapped Wealth Discovered."
This morning I'd like to highlight a dry cleaning service that seems to have forgotten how to treat its customers and because of this they stand to lose lots of business as well as long-time and loyal customers.  This complaint was submitted to us by a very unhappy former customer of London Cleaners, a dry cleaning service located in Toronto Ontario.
In mid January this customer took a pair of wool dress pants to London Cleaners to be dry cleaned and repaired.  She requested to have new elastic put in the waste of her pants and 10 days later she went back to retrieve her pants.  The regular London Cleaners clerk was not there and the temp clerk told the customer that she was unable to find the pants so she should return in a week or so because at that time the regular clerk would be back from vacation.
The customer returned a little over a week later and the regular clerk was there but he was unable to find her pants.  He checked his records and told her that she had already picked up her pair of pants but the customer was very adamant that she had not.  So the clerk checked again and a day later he phoned the customer to tell her that he could not find the pants.  At that point the customer insisted that she had not and she told the clerk that he should pay her for the loss of her good wool dress pants.
We sent one of our investigators to find out the rest of the story and in a nutshell:  London Cleaners had lost a good pair of dress wool pants costing almost $100 but did not want to admit to it and only wanted to give the customer a $30 credit as compensation.  They called their customer a liar and the clerk at the store did not seem to care whether or not the customer got her pants back.  The customer has since told London Cleaners that she will never return to their establishment but more unfortunate for London Cleaners is that they have displayed a very don't care attitude and the customer has told them that she will tell everyone in her condo complex not to take their dry cleaning to London Cleaners.  This customer has been a  very loyal customer for over 20 years but now she is going to take her business and that of others elsewhere.
Maybe London Cleaners should  take a step backwards and re-think their actions.  Nothing can be worse than by word of mouth negative advertising.

Small business opportunitties for women

Small business opportunities for women are becoming more and more explosive as our American economy speeds uncontrollably towards the full development of a small business economy or should I say a full fledged small business economy.  There used to be a time when it was a rarity to see small business women but not so anymore.

A successful home care business

More cleaning businesses springing up

Be ware of those get rich quick schemes

Hello there!  I'm Matt Chadwick at the Untapped Wealth business desk and today I have a warning for you about those get rich quick schemes.
It's time for us to fight back against all those who are tempting us with those get rich quick schemes.  According to several business experts in America there are literally millions of get rich quick schemes springing up on a daily basis and they seem to exist everywhere.  On the TV, over the Internet, in flyers, magazines, and even over the phone.  If you don't take precautions then you can be sure that sooner or later one of these too good to be true promises of quick cash in return for not doing much is going to catch and bite you really hard.
These sickening schemes almost always seek to take advantage of those who are looking to make extra money, those who are seeking jobs, those who are trying to save their hard earned income, and those who are looking for opportunities to secure their financial futures.  These schemes play on your emotions, promise things that are a little too good to be true, promise quick cash to be made in record breaking time, and so on.

Three ways to a successful business

Perseverance pays off

Wanted! meal planners

A company paying attention

Hi there!  I'm Jayna Sheffield at the Untapped Wealth business desk.
Today I would like to talk about a company who is really paying attention to its customer service.  A few days ago one of its customers complained to its head office that they had been having some difficulty with one of its dry cleaning outlets.  According to the customer, she had taken in a pair of pants to be repaired and dry cleaned.  The customer had requested to have new elastic put in the waste and she had taken the pair of pants to the dry cleaning outlet almost a month ago.  However, when she returned a few days ago to pick up her pants she was told that the pants had already been picked up.
When she told the man in charge at the dry cleaning outlet that she had never picked up the pants he became very nonchalant and told her that she had.  She then demanded that he pay her for the lost pants which was a good pair of wool dress pants but he refused saying that he did not care.  In his words "Go to the head office and complain if you want I don't care."
So our unhappy customer went to the head office and complained about what had happened to her.  We sent one of our investigators to investigate this story and it turns out that the dry cleaning outlet had indeed lost the customer's pants but did not want to admit it.  The head office has now stepped in and we are confident that they will be able to resolve this matter to everyone's satisfaction.
The lesson here is that the head office knows that this person is a customer of good standing and that she has been doing business with this particular outlet for a very long time and they are determined to keep her happy.

A successful business venture

They decided to search the Internet for ideas and came across Kerry J Harrison's first book "Untapped Wealth" and they bought it.  They were not totally convinced about the author's theories but nevertheless they sent her an email and two months later she responded.  Ms Harrison arranged for Chad and Ryan to meet with her and her consulting team.  Their email appealed to her and she wanted to help them get back on their feet. 
Ms Harrison and her team helped the brothers to generate some ideas for a small town business and the rest is history.  Today, a little over a year after they met with Kerry Harrison and her team Chad and Ryan are in business as a plant care operation.  They go out to various companies and look after plants in the offices and around the premises for the companies.  According to Chad:  "It's hard work but we're enjoying it and we're building a reputation for ourselves."  Ryan is hopeful that with time they can enhance on their little business by opening a nursery to supply plants to their clients and that their wives can help with the nursery side of things.

Are call centres in India really working?

Hey there!  I'm Alix Shadonnay at the Untapped Wealth business desk.
It seems that more and more large companies are going the route of relocating their call centres in India and using Indian workers to staff these centres.  They are doing this in order to cut down on their overhead costs as it is a lot cheaper to hire Indian workers.  However, there is a huge down side to this.
Whereas these large corporations are affectively reducing their overhead costs they are inadvertently damaging relations their customers.  The Indian call centres are staffed by workers whose first language is not English and in addition to this their approach to customer service is quite different to what we are used to here in North America.
Many business experts are saying that this may come back to haunt companies like IBM, A T&T, Primus, and Sprint among others because customers are complaining about some of the tactics that these workers from India are using in order to drum up business for their North American employers.  We have had several complaints from our clients telling us about the types of phone calls they receive from call centres in India.  For the most part these calls are actually rude, demanding, and overly aggressive.
