Wanted! event planners

Hey there!  I'm Alix Shadonnay at the business desk and I'd like to end the week on a high note.
I'd like to draw your attention to a growing demand for event planners and the consumers driving the demand are none else than seniors.  I cannot over stress the importance of this particular group of consumers.  They are growing rapidly in number, they exist globally, their financial influence is growing by leaps and bounds, and this group is going to keep on growing for as long as the aging process continues.
There are two particular stats that I would like to share with you but I'm sure that most of you are already familiar with them.  First, it is estimated that by 2010 the North American population would be made up of about 60% of seniors and second it is also estimated that that by 2010 they would be in possession of about 70% of total bank deposits in North America.
Anyone who is serious about wanting to carve out a niche for themselves would start paying attention to the seniors market and the rampant demand.  Baby boomers are becoming seniors on a daily basis.  Who are baby boomers?  Anyone who was born between 1946 and 1964.  This means that the first set of baby boomers turned 60 last year and the beat continues.
One of the growing demands of the seniors market is for the services of skilled and innovative event planners.  They are looking for skilled event planners to plan events such as:
Outings to theatres, dinner parties at home and at restaurants, day tours to tourist sites, sporting events such as bowling, golfing, curling, and lawn bowling tournaments, weekend getaways that would include some types of sports, leisure, and buffet or sit down meals, anniversary parties, plus more.
On paper this may all sound very simple to the onlooker but trust me when I tell you that these types of events would include much more than just the occasion itself.  It would entail ensuring that the needs of seniors are met.  The accommodation of those seniors who are afflicted with those types of disabilities that accompany the aging process, the provision of special types of foods to suit the dietary habits of seniors, plus much more.  Ensuring that the right type of transportation is provided i.e. buses that can accommodate wheelchairs, walkers, and guide dogs.  Ensuring that the places where events are to be held are fully accessible to the physically challenged, the visually impaired, and other persons with any other type of disability.
Event planners would have to make doubly sure that the personnel they hire are fully aware and able and willing to provide the appropriate type of assistance to seniors.  A very challenging undertaking as it would entail the understanding of and fulfilling of the needs and demands of seniors.
I can tell you that we presently have several clients who have found great personal and financial satisfaction as event planners in the seniors market.  Most of them have had extensive training re learning how to interact with seniors consumers.  They have had to work hard at the beginning of their careers to get established but on the whole they have been able to see results after two to three years.  On average an event planner offering their services to the seniors market can expect to make anything from about $45,000 to about $80,000 as an entrepreneur and they could expect to make more if they decided to open a small business in partnership with others.  Experience is the key to success here and one has to do lots of advertising but it is definitely possible and obtainable if you're willing to put in the hard work to get on your feet.
How do you find your consumers?  You could start by advertising to seniors homes, senior condo complexes, advertising in magazines for seniors, large corporations, and some Internet advertising is also not a bad idea.
Food for thought as you enjoy your weekend.
